CORE VALUES & BELIEFS
Do I need an accountant or can I do this by myself?
One of the biggest questions that I find business owners ask is this one!
Having an accountant for your business is essential. Most successful business owners who work closely with an accountant will tell you an accountant is an absolute must. Why? Because they want to enhance their profits and stay in compliance. Not only that they want a stress free life, so that they can actually run their business while we manage it in the back-end.
Which one do I need for my business: a CPA or Tax Expert?
Great question! Just like in the medical profession or even in the law profession, an accountant is very broad. Acccountants can specialize in different needs. Because it is very broad, you have to find an accountant that specialized in your needs.
The biggest difference between a CPA or tax accountant or a "tax expert" is their expertise. A tax expert specializes in literally, tax planning, they specialize in tax returns and anything that is related to taxation. It's very important to know who you will be working with and what they offer for services.
You will find CPAs that don't handle any taxation. You will also find tax accountants that
only handle taxation. So it's very important to find out what your accountant specializes in.
Interview your accountant.
If your business goals require a tax accountant, then I highly recommend that you find an individual that specializes in taxation.
When do I need Key Person insurance for my business?
The biggest thing I found in the last 3-5 years is that a lot of businesses do not have a key person life insurance. A key person life insurance is an insurance policy that protects your business. If anything happens to the business — you will be safe.
A couple of things that you need to ask yourself is: If ________ passed away or if ________ is incapable of continuing the same work will that affect my business?
If the answer is yes, then key person life insurance is very important to have.
Here's another perfect example that I will give you: If you and I we're in partnership and I am one of the key persons that keeps this business running...if I got in a car accident and now I'm disabled, or I pass away, will that affect your business?
If the answer is yes, then key person life insurance is very important.
How often do you communicate while we are working together?
The biggest obstacles that I find with business owners is the lack of transparency and communication between the accountant and the client. It is very important that our communication is consistent.
Perfect example: View your accountant like you view your doctor...we're here to diagnose your business. We're here to make sure that you are taking the right steps and taking the right medication for your business. The end goal is to make sure that your
business is healthy.
We also value your communication style. What is the best way to communicate with you? Email? Phone call? Text? At Serenity Financial, that is very important to us. We want you to contact us. We want you to text us. Before you make a big decision in your financial plan, we want you to reach out to us first.
So don't be shy. We're not the accountant that won't pick up your phone call. We will answer your phone call! We will follow up with texts, if that is your best way of communicating.
Is Serenity Financial 100% virtual?
Yes! We are.
