DISASTER RELIEF
We need your support!
As you know, Hurricane Ida devastated many communities across Louisiana. We have been in touch with our members, many of whom have varying levels of damages to their homes and property. We praise God for no loss of life. There is damage to the church to include water damage inside. We have been in touch with our trustees and have begun the process of filing a claim.
As we transition fully into recovery mode, we are proud that the work of serving God and Community has already begun. To date, we have been involved with the following:
-
Information/resource sharing
-
Wellness checks
-
Trash/debris removal within the neighborhood
-
Opened as a “recharging station” so individuals can come in, cool off, charge their devices, and have access to the internet
We are committed to working in partnership with the ecumenical community, government agencies, and other community partners to support the massive recovery efforts that lie ahead. In the coming days, Trinity will continue to serve as a recharging station and is seeking additional resources to provide hot meals to residents and workers, along with gas cards to assist with fueling generators, and gift cards to assist families with purchasing essential items. Needs may change as we continue to assess the situation on the ground.
The Atlantic Hurricane Season runs from June 1 to November 30. Climatologists and meteorologists anticipate an historically active hurricane season. There is much work before us.
